About Us – Hat Yai City

Welcome to HatYaiCity.com — a project born from love, family, and a fresh start. I’m Rasim, also known by my Thai nickname “Tuinui” (ตุ๋ยนุ้ย), a single dad from Slovenia, now building a new life in Hat Yai with my two sons.

About Us – Who I Am

I was born in Bosnia, but my family moved to Slovenia when I was just 3 years old. Over the years, I built a career and a family, and through marriage to a Thai woman from Manang near Satun, I discovered Hat Yai and Southern Thailand. After many visits, I fell in love with the city, its food, and especially its people.

Today, I live with my two sons, aged 16 and 10, and together we are preparing to make Hat Yai our permanent home. I chose Hat Yai over Chiang Mai and Pattaya because of its many unique benefits: a vibrant city life, amazing food, Songkhla beach nearby, an international airport, easy border visa runs, and two excellent international schools with lower fees than Chiang Mai. Most importantly, Hat Yai brings my children closer to their mother and grandparents.

My Mission

I realized there was no dedicated portal for Hat Yai — no single place that collected all the useful information a traveler, family, or digital nomad might need. I searched over 60 websites, piecing together details with the help of AI, and it was exhausting.

That’s why I decided to create HatYaiCity.com: one platform where anyone can find food guides, nightlife tips, attractions, hotels, local insights, and future updates from my personal explorations with my kids. It will take time and effort — especially translations and photography — but this project is built with love and will grow step by step.

Note: This site is not a travel agency — it’s a personal project designed, written, and managed by me. Still this is special project beside my other work and I really hope you like my page.

Why Trust Me

I’m a former 7-time CEO with a strong background in logistics, transport, marketing, sales, and property investment. I hold a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Technology of Transport and Logistics from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transportation.

I speak Slovenian, Bosnian, English, basic German, some Italian, and basic Thai. This helps me connect with both international travelers and the local community. My hobby is website design 😉

More than titles, I’m a father building a new future in Hat Yai. This is not just another travel site — it’s my journey. Hat Yai is our new home, and maybe even the place where I’ll find my soulmate 😉.

I love Thai food — especially Phat Kaphrao Kai Dao (the spicier, the better!) and of course the famous Hat Yai fried chicken. Through this portal, I want to share that passion and make your journey in Hat Yai easier and more memorable. I am looking forward to meet new people and try amazing food. And yes, I love to cook and bake, just the way single father need to know. 😉
